Meet The Staff
My interest and curiosity in chiropractic care appeared after college.
Starting college I was a top competitor as a starting forward on the women’s soccer team as a freshman. That was short lived however, because during soccer’s pre-season I had torn my ACL. This meant I was out of competition for at least 6 months and I was devastated! That was the majority of the soccer season where I was expecting to show my talents.
During the many long hours and months of rehab for my knee I realized my years of competitive soccer were limited and that really hit me hard, shattering my expectations for the future. I eventually made it back to the soccer field with the help of the Athletic Trainer assigned to the team. I realized I wouldn’t have been able to get through that without her motivation and inspiration and she was with me and the team every day!
That’s when the light bulb went off in my head. My original plan was to play soccer and basketball for as long as I could and become either a lawyer or forensic analyst. I was a CSI junkie (and we all know that TV is exactly like real life), plus I loved to argue and be right! After all of the time I spent with the athletic trainer, I realized that it wasn’t so much arguing I was drawn to but the explaining of things and being able to help people. And since I couldn’t play sports forever, this was a perfect way to continue to be part of athletics. I couldn’t think of a closer position to the players than the Athletic Trainer. This path included my love of sports and science and I would be able to inspire athletes like my Athletic Trainer had done for me!
My interest and curiosity in chiropractic care appeared after college. Using chiropractic care and rehab in conjunction with one another can aide the healing process by helping increase range of motion and improve muscle firing patterns, thus improving athletic ability. I wish I would have known this when I was younger because I may have been able to avoid 2 more ACL injuries. Which is why I think Active Edge Chiropractic and Functional Medicine is such a great fit for me. Dr. Craner, Dr. Hensel and the rest of the staff share my passion for the body and allowing it function at its best for all levels and types of athletes. The staff as a whole work together to figure out the root cause of your body’s dysfunction and get you back to doing what you love, and doing it well!
I knew early on in high school that I wanted to help people in my career.
I knew early on in high school that I wanted to help people in my career. I had two major back surgeries and was never told to do any rehab, or any form of therapy for that matter, that I was young and would heal fast. As the years went on I realized more and more that my body was getting fatigued and I was loosing the mobility I once had. I knew that I was going to go to college, but I didn’t know what field I wanted to go in that would open the doors I wanted. I remembered in swimming we had a massage therapist that would come in for major events and how much better I felt afterwards. This started me on my path to massage school.
The more I looked into massage and its benefits by themselves, and how much more it can help with added care; the more I knew this would be the field for me. While in school at The American Institute of Alternative Medicine we got to take a look at all the job opportunities that would come our way, and the Chiropractic care world never lost my attention. I wanted to be able to help people function at their most optimal level, and not have to deal with what comes from letting injuries go.
Active Edge Chiropractic and Functional Medicine was the only option for me, the team we have all share a passion for the body and how it works and the common goal of getting you to meet your full potential. Being part of Active Edge and working with Dr. Hensel and Dr. Craner and the rest of their staff to comprehensively get our patients back to their optimal health is what I enjoy most about my job. This is a team built and centered around each and every patients individual needs and goals. I can say from personal experience my life wouldn’t be the same as it is now without the help of Dr. Craner re-teaching my body to properly function, and Dr. Hensel for his wealth of knowledge in the Functional Medicine field to help clear my gut. I have been with this practice for two years, and it is amazing the growth that is done here.
